Many customers have made the switch to Teliax from a traditional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) line to save money and increase your flexibility and calling options.

We believe it’s important that you understand the differences between the PSTN and VoIP.

  • Teliax, along with any VoIP provider, requires that you have a continuous power supply to power your phone equipment.

  • Teliax is a ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider). We treat voice calls as an Internet network service. It's the same technology behind streaming video, downloading movies, or viewing webpages.

  • While you might hear dial tones and digit presses, these are generated by your phone equipment. Teliax does not provide true dial tone service. Your phone connects to the Internet, not to the local phone service facilities.

  • You can call anyone, anywhere in the world, so long as they have a phone number you can dial. It doesn't matter if they're using VoIP, PSTN, cellular, or satellite.

  • Teliax requires that you have broadband Internet service. This is the medium for which you make and receive calls. Your Internet speeds have a direct impact on call quality.

  • Teliax call quality is comparable to and often exceeds traditional phone service.

  • While Teliax provides E911 service for emergency calls, your device must be on, powered, with a network connection to Teliax for the call to complete.
